1 UCLA Yes https://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/preparations-for-the-2020-21-academic-year "Recommended infection-control procedures will be in place on campus, including physical distancing, de-densifying classrooms and other spaces, frequent cleaning of classrooms and facilities, and the wearing of face coverings while on campus, consistent with guidance from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health." Added comment: CA Governor has ordered masks to be worn in public. Presumably this includes the UCLA campus. UCLA says: "Anyone on campus should maintain safe distances from others and wear a mask." Most instruction will be remote in the fall. 3 University of Michigan - Ann Arbor Yes https://record.umich.edu/articles/university-issues-guidance-on-face-coverings/ "all persons are required to wear face coverings when entering enclosed public spaces, including campus buildings and workspaces, where social distancing cannot be maintained."

4 Univeristy of Virginia Yes https://hr.virginia.edu/covid-19/return-grounds Face coverings must be worn by all faculty, staff, and students while inside a University facility or otherwise inside a building on University Grounds or on any University property when in the presence of others (e.g., common work spaces, meeting rooms, etc.). Face masks must also be worn on University transit buses. Note that both federal and state law allow employers to direct employees to wear face coverings. The CDC currently recommends face coverings for all employees while they are in public spaces. The Governor’s Executive Order requires masks unless an exception applies.

5 Georgia Tech YES FINALLY https://health.gatech.edu/coronavirus/campus-guidelines The University System of Georgia has (finally) issued a statement, on July 6, that masks in classrooms and other common campus areas will be required.

6 UNC - Chapel Hill Yes https://research.unc.edu/covid-19/resuming/all/ While in a University facility, all individuals must wear a University-approved face mask when in the presence of others and in public settings where physical distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., conference rooms and common work spaces). Acceptable face mask options will be available at the UNC Environment Health & Safety website.

7 UC - Santa Barbara *likely yes https://www.ucsb.edu/COVID-19-information Recommendations regarding face coverings. The Centers for Disease Control and the California Department of Public Health encourage individuals to wear face coverings when they are out in public. UC Santa Barbara health experts also recommend the use of face coverings for people who come to campus to perform essential university functions. More information may be found in the Chancellor’s April 7 COVID-19 Update. (Note: we believe that the state-wide California mask mandate will mean that all public universities in California wil require masks, but this is not yet indicated on the UCSB website)

8 University of Florida Yes https://coronavirus.ufl.edu/faqs/ As part of an ongoing effort to keep a safer campus and in parallel with Alachua County’s Emergency Order 2020-21 and UF Health, the university is requiring all students, faculty, staff and visitors to wear mask or face coverings in indoor public spaces on the University of Florida properties.

9 UC - Irvine Yes https://uci.edu/coronavirus/ In compliance with the California Department of Public Health, all individuals on UCI-controlled property are required to wear face coverings to reduce possible exposure and help prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the UCI community. Please read UCI’s Executive Directive for details, including permitted exceptions. Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) is offering face coverings to campus employees.

10 UC - San Diego Yes https://blink.ucsd.edu/safety/occupational/PPE/respiratory/face-covering.html As of May 1st, you must wear a face covering when you are inside a building at UC San Diego, when you are in a vehicle with another co-worker, when you are interfacing with the campus community and public, and when social distancing of 6 feet or less cannot be maintained. Examples include but are not limited to entering, exiting or walking through campus buildings, riding the campus shuttle, etc.

11 UC - Davis Yes https://foa.ucdavis.edu/face-coverings Yolo County Public Health issued a public health order on April 24, which requires that everyone wear a face covering outside the home, including at work.

12 College of William and Mary Yes https://www.wm.edu/sites/pathforward/students/index.php Students, faculty and staff will be required to wear face coverings indoors and will be provided masks in a kit provided by William & Mary.

13 University of Wisconsin - Madison Yes https://smartrestart.wisc.edu Face coverings required in indoor spaces and outdoors where physical distancing is not possible

17 Ohio State - Columbus Yes https://news.osu.edu/ohio-state-announces-plans-for-an-autumn-semester-return-to-campuses/ In light of this, she said that uniform practice of safety measures - especially the combination of appropriate face coverings and physical distancing - will be an essential part of protecting one another as more people are living, learning and working on Ohio State’s campuses.

18 Florida State University Yes https://news.fsu.edu/news/university-news/2020/06/18/fsu-board-of-trustees-approves-fall-2020-plan/ The university will follow social distancing guidelines, and face masks will be required for all members of the university community, as well as visitors. Noncompliance of requirements to wear face masks and practice social distancing may result in employee disciplinary action or a referral to student behavior and/or academic review boards.

19 Penn State - University Park Yes https://news.psu.edu/story/622179/2020/06/03/campus-life/penn-state-meet-or-exceed-wolf-administrations-higher-education Penn State is requiring masks based on governor's requirement. PA Governor has said: "Colleges and universities must reinforce hygiene and sanitation practices on campus, require face coverings in most circumstances [...] [institutions] may have to return to remote course delivery if individuals do not adhere to guidance, such as the need to wear face masks and practice social distancing."

20 Purdue Yes https://protect.purdue.edu/students/campus-2020/ On May 26, 2020, the Purdue University Board of Trustees ratified a university regulation requiring wearing a face mask upon entering a campus building. The science on facial coverings has become clear in terms of limiting spread of COVID-19. Face masks help protect others from unintentional exposure from the person wearing it. Each of us has an obligation to protect against the spread of COVID-19.
